More and more is still being learned about related cancers to pancreatic cancer. Without enough information, it is not known truly if breast cancer can lead to pancreatic cancer. There is a link if pancreatic cancer is in the family medical history.

Utah Jazz basketball coach, Jerry Sloan's wife, survived breast cancer to die years later from pancreatic cancer. For more information check out pancan.org. You can call them tollfree on Tuesday at 1-877-272-6226 and maybe someone there can give you what information they may have available in this area.

Have your friend ask for a CA 19-9 test to see if there is any elevation of this tumor marker in her blood. If the doctor is truly serious there are tests (endoscopic in nature) that can be done to check the pancreas and possibly take some brushings to check for early pancreatic cancer cell formation.

Hope your friend does well with breast cancer treatment. Take care.......Mary
