It sure is some rollercoaster ride. It sounds like your husband Joe is experiencing alot of pain like my husband, Steven. I am afraid to hear what his CA19-9 from last Thursday will be. I hope it will be going down, but with the continued pain I am scared. My husband also has spasims at night. Sometimes I watch him sleep to see if he is still breathing, just like I did my daughter when she was a baby. I hate this thing too. I pray to God for the strength to bear whatever comes. God be with you.
