My dad came to visit me on December 21, 2003 from Florida for Christmas, on
December 22, 2003 he was sent to the ER at North Arundel Hospital. The
doctors were not sure what was wrong at first but they finally found a tumor
in his pancreas. He stayed in the hospital and had the Whipple procedure
until Mid January 2004. He came home to stay with me and my family where he
received chemo and radiation. June 2004 he had completed everything and was
told the cancer was gone. We were told by a physician at the Tate Cancer
Cencer that he was 99% guaranteed it would not return. I watched my dad go
thru hell for six months and I was grateful it was over. October 2004 he had
some follow up blood work that showed elevated tumor levels. The scan
revealed the cancer was back in his pancreas and had now spread to his liver,
we were all devastated and angry. He tried more chemo but it did not help he
is now on nothing but pain meds and Hospice has stepped in. My dad turned 54
years old on October 19. He has 4 beautiful grandchildren one which was born
October 1 2004. I still feel angry and scared but I am grateful I have this
place to come and chat with others that can help me
