Dad had back pain after certain procedures in the GI area. It is called referred pain. There are nerves in the muscles in the abdominal area that lead to the back. Any disturbance can affect the back. Dad also had back pain and even shoulder pain when he had a drain put in for a liver abscess. He didn't require any future stents after the initial one put in. It was removed during the whipple surgery two weeks later. Do mention it to the doctor. Hope your Aunt is more comfortable soon. Take care......Mary
