You will have to fight the HMO for each and ever tratment option available to your Mother, but you need to do this! If you find any delays go directly the Utilization Review deaprtment of your HMO if there is no reaction tell them you will file a complaint with the California Department of Corporations - this agency regulates all HMO's (web page to file complaints availbale)My mother was DX'd 6/98 - died 8/98 - her HMO delayed all treatment options and I had to constantly fight them, but if I didn't no one would. I think HMO's take advantage of the elderly by the constant delays and red tape.If I can help you more please ask, I'm more than happy to.Good luck!
