My husband's symptoms came on slowly. I had been interning in anelementary school and thought I brought a bug home from the kids. Whenhis diarrhea didn't stop, I made him go to the doc who did blood tests, ultrasound, x-ray, ERCP, and biopsy. During the course of these tests,a good month went by. But we pretty much knew after the ERCP that hehad pc. Harry went into surgery the beginning of October and came homefour weeks later. Our onc was great but the surgery was unsuccessfuland, I believe, brought him down much faster than if Harry rejected theoperation. Harry then had a small stoke (associated with pc) thebeginning of November. This really sent him into a downward spiralwhere he could get up only once a day and slept the rest. PC hasvirtually no signs until it's late stage, making it extremely difficultfor family and patient to adjust to the ensuing loss. In Harry's case,he had a relatively small tumor in the head of the pancreas (earlystage) which had already metastasized to the liver making it latestage. We had four or five months together from diagnosis until hisdeath on Thanksgiving. This is such an insidious disease. I'm sorry I tend tend to ramble as I try to make sense of all of this. The grief process is sometimes overwhelming for all of us. Best wishes,Pam K
