Attitude is really important. After my father heard his diagnosis (of pancreatic cancer) and the doctor gave him no hope, it seemed to me he just withered away. I think doctors should always give a person hope,even if the prognosis is grim. Who knows, almost anything can happen including a new breakthrough. Hope keeps us alive! You should be positive with your friend, but let her speak her mind. Give her hope without squashing her own feelings.
