Marcie, I am so sorry to hear of your dads diagnosis. My step-father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 1997. Unfortunately, his tumor was attached to his Aorta and he passed in July of 1997. My biological father was diagnosed a few weeks ago. He is scheduled for surgery on 1/4/99. I am praying for a much better outcome this time around. I know that there is a lot of research on PC. My best advice to you is to be very patient and supportive of your father. He will need you through his treatments. Most PC patients have a lot of pain and trouble eating. Make sure that you don't push and always keep open communication. There are a lot of resources on the internet, so study all that you can. I am sure that you know the diagnosis for PC is not very good, but you cannot go with the statistics. Check out www.sterner.org. This is a site designed by a patient that lived through PC. I know it is tough and very confusing. I think I reached out to just about everyone for comfort. Just stay strong and never give up hope... I will keep you in my prayers.
