LISA STANCIK [Eve Stancik]
I am the daughter of EVE STANCIK who was diagnosed with pc [stage IV] in June
'98. Her only symptom was nausea which later turned into jaundice. She lost
her battle on August 29, 1998. Eve was 72, born Christmas Eve - thus the name
Eve. Whipple surgery was considered too risky. Doctors [Bayshore Hospital NJ]
performed bipasses to re-route food, drain bile etc. Unfortunately we never
experienced 100% success. Despite her body failure, her spirit to fight
remained strong as did her faith. We started an endowment at Johns Hopkins
for pc research in her name. Because this is just a dent in what's needed to
further progress I will also be an active member in gaining funding [both tax
money and private] toward research. Have already enjoyed the people I have
met who are fighting this disease or who have lost loved ones to it. I am
your sister and friend in this journey and look forward to celebrating the
many lives we will save as action moves forward to head out this beastly
disease. As for my personal bio: Live in Olney, MD, work for the government
as a TV Producer/Director in international broadcasting. A lot of my free
time is spent caring for spiritual lives at a local church where I am an
ordained minister. My e-mail: LStancik
