Well, the stats aren't good. Survival beyond a year is pretty grim. However, there are people on this board who have still had the Whipple surgery even after it has moved outside the pancreas (which is Stage 4) and survived for some years beyond that. My Dad was basically told that since it had mets to the liver, he wasn't eligible for surgery. Chemo is also pretty grim, but again there are people on this board who are having chemo and doing pretty well. This board is a great resource for help, as is the John's Hopkins site that got you here.

Sorry to hear about your news, and we will all keep you and your family in our prayers. I was in a panic when I heard about my dad, but he was diagnosed 7 months ago and is still pretty fine. He spent the first 3 weeks thinking he was going to die immediately, got all his affairs in order, etc., and now is still doing pretty fine!
