I think you should call the doctor about the fever. I don't know what kind of redness your mom has -- this can be a sign of having a blood clot and you should ask the doctor about that as well. When my mother had fluid build-up (ascites) she was told by hospice that if she felt the fluid was causing too much pressure or pain, it could be drained but that it would come right back and that there was a risk of infection. My mother chose not to get the fluid drained, so I don't know more than that. There is always the possibility of infection with anything and people are more vulnerable to infection when undergoing chemo so it's important to call the doctor and talk about the fever and redness.
