I am only one opinion here but here goes my 2 cents. I don't see any way that you messed up by having the radiation. His best shot for having the whipple is with SHRINKAGE in order to get this shrinkage the onclolgist and radiologist have hit him with the hard stuff to make the whipple possible. Now if it doesn't work just know that you two along with your health care providers gave it 100%. I'm sure the oncologist has other things up his sleeve if it doesn't shrink enough for the whipple. You just remember as long as another organ is not involved he will still be a possible candidate if and when he gets shrinkage. If the shrinkage doesn't come there are other chemo's and I'm sure he will be doing some type of chemo if it be 5 FU, gemzar, GTX, or what ever the oncologist feels will help him. I remember once my mama wanted to switch chemo's and go back to the first chemo she had taken because she got a remission with that chemo. The oncologist said she would have to be off that chemo for 6 months before going back to that chemo. Anyway after the 6 mo. was up mama wanted to go back to that first chemo. The oncologist said he didn't want to switch her because the chemo she was on was holding her cancer and he could see no good reason to leave something that at that time was working. Later after it quit working she did go back to the original chemo and it didn't work. I said all this to say yes, we can offer suggestions but ultimately the decission should be made between the oncologist and yourselves. Don't give up hope. Hugs Lillie
