I experienced somwhat of the same thing last March. My surgeon went in to do a Puestow procedure (splicing duct into intestine) but ended up only removing most of a mucinous cystic tumor. It was not visible on any of my scans, ultrasounds or ERCPs. 90 days later, I ended up with a Whipple. With me, it took going 'inside' to really see what was there.
