Unfortunately reading your post sounded very similar to my husband's experience. He was 43 when diagnosed, stage IVb, liver mets. After his second dose of Gemzar he wound up in the ER with a very high fever, infection, organs started shutting down, filled with fluid. He died 2 days later...just 10 weeks after his initial diagnosis. I sincerely hope your relative has a better outcvome. For months I blamed his death on the Gemzar, and second guessed his decision to go with the chemo. I just don't know, cause the disease is horrible itself. Hoping for the best for you.
