Lori, so sorry about your Mom. We all, along with our loved ones, had to make this decision at some point - and have to make it again and again whenever a treatment no longer works. As a matter of fact, my husband and I are going through this right now, so I do understand how you feel.

That being said, consider this: chemotherapy is also given for palliative purposes (as opposed to treatment). In other words, it can - and often does alleviate the pain and discomfort. There is no way to know what the side effects would be for your Mom - more nausea, etc - or not. She is already living with symptoms that are all side effects of chemo, so perhaps it is worth considering it?

It is a hard and personal decision to make and I am not advocating one way or another - it was a tough choice for my husband 18 months ago to go with chemo. It is another option to consider - and what if, just if, she responds! This disease is SO UNPREDICTABLE - no two patients react the same way to a treatment!

Hope this helps!
