FROM MGH WEB SITE:
The Tucker Gosnell Hepatobiliary Cancer Clinic provides comprehensive, expert evaluation and treatment of all patients with hepatic and biliary cancers. Medical oncologists, surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and gastroenterologists provide patients with compassionate cancer care throughout all phases of cancer diagnosis and treatment.
This new Clinic was named for Tucker Gosnell who was in his early forties when diagnosed with bile duct cancer. David Ryan, MD and Christopher Willett, MD treated Mr. Gosnell before he died on Dec. 31, 2001. Wanting to create something positive out of the tragedy, his family approached the hospital about directing memorial gifts toward research in hepatobiliary cancers. In the end, the family decided to make a much larger and deeper commitment to provide funding in this area. Their support helped establish the clinic and will eventually fund basic, translational and clinical research in hepatobiliary cancers as well as help fund construction of the new Tucker Gosnell Gastrointestinal Cancer Center within the new outpatient facility sited for completion in the Fall 2004.
