DADDY'S GIRL


On June 7, 1986, my mom came over to my aunt's house where I was staying, with the pastor from our church. My heart sank & I think I knew what she was about to tell me. I was 2 months shy of turning 14. My mom told me that my Daddy had passed & that he was no longer in pain. My mom never left his side. My dad was diagnosed in January of 1986 w/gall stones. He had surgery to remove them. In Febuary of 1986, his abdominal pain was intolerable. He had constantly been in and out of the hospital, that is why we were all so shocked to hear he has cancer & it is terminal. He had bleeding ulcers in the 70's, but he didn't smoke or drink. As far as I know there is no one in his family that had PC. He was 54 years old. The doctor gave us 6 months, he lived 7 months. He went into a coma just before he died. He lived on morphine to help ease the pain. Now that I am in my 30's and back in college, I decided to start trying to figure out what exactly PC is & what causes it. My parents have four children & we all miss him tremendously. We missed having our dad while we were growing up. I can remember the pain that he went through. I remember him not being able to lay down & sleeping in a chair all night. It has been over 17 years since my daddy passed, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of him & wish he was still here to see my children. I love you Daddy & I will always be you little girl!!!!
