Karen, my heart goes out to you. My mom has an unresectable tumor in the head of the pancreas (4-5cm) at this time also. Fortunately, she didn't get to the Whipple before they figured that out. Her CT scans showed too much vascular involvement and her surgeon said that he wouldn't even consider surgery given the results of the scan. She's scheduled for a stent on Friday (10/3), chemo and radiation start the following week. The plan is to shrink (hopefully) the tumor and then do the Whipple if the tumor shrinks. It sounds like this is the same thing that's in store for your husband.

All we can do now is pray/hope that our loved one's tumor shrinks. Please don't apologize for you feelings or moods. Everyone refers to our plight as the 'roller-coaster ride'. One day you'll feel like you never even heard of PC, then the next you feel like the world is crashing down around you; it's totally normal. Don't hesitate to come back to the board when you need to, it helps a great deal.
