To all, today was not a good day for all of us here.My husband Ira was scheduled for the whipple at Jackson Memorial in Miami, I knew when the person at the desk said after 31/2 hours that the doctor wanted to see us in a private room, the news was not good. My husband has a malignant tumor in the neck of the pancreas, which he probably had for about a year, he could not resect because of the portal vein involvement and the tumor was too hard and the pancreas was starting to harden. He was able to reposition the bile duct for future problems and he removed the duodum. The Dr. advised that we start agressive therpy, radiation and chemo, Cu-5 and Gemzar which will take place in 4-6 weeks, maybe by a shear miricle the tumor will shrink enough to resect. The good news, there was no other indication that the cancer has spread. Forgive me for my spelling, but even though we went in with a 50/50 chance, my mind and body still don't want to accept. I know I have to be strong for the coming months, I hope I can. My world has been turned upside down and I guess I am feeling sorry for myself. I hoping with all your support out there and knowledge of new treatments it will be of great comfort to me and my husband. Please give me your thoughts, We need so much support, my friends and children are there for us, but you all have the inside tract and know how we can deal with what is happening to us, and what is ahead of us. Please, my world has been shattered. Thank you.
