Maxine,

I am sorry to hear about your mother, but know that this board is wonderful and that all of the people are so supportive. My mom is 53 and was dx in June and has been on Gemzar since 6/30/03 (tumor spread to liver and lymphnodes). Similar to your mom, she was working until she was diagnosed and only had an annoying intermittant pain in her back. She did become jaundiced shortly after diagnosis and a stent was placed, which helped with that. I had her first grandchild in April, and gave her my mom's middle name (Florence). Zoe has been an inspiration to all of us. Your pregnancy will help you get through this and, as people have told me, to recognize that there is life outside of the cancer. My mom and I speak about five times each day and most of the time we talk about what Zoe is doing and how she is changing. I think it helps her and I know that it give me the strength to go on. I hope that your pregnancy does the same for you. We are trying to make little milestones for all of us to look forward to, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and my mom's ultimate goal, Zoe's first birthday. This is not to say that I am not scared out of my mind that she may not be there for one of those events, but I suppose that there is not a guarentee for any of us. We just assume that we will be there. What I do know, however, is that whatever happens, my mom will live on- I can see it in my daughter's eyes.
