As someone with PC I would be totally aghast if someone (loved one, doctor, whomever) withheld any information from me. It seems so patronizing, as if the pc patient were a child. I don't see how anyone can insert themselves between the patient and full knowledge. Your father is an adult who has made decisions all his life. Why would you withhold any information from him? Why would any doctors be less than candid about treatment, options and outcomes? I see no benefit to this at all. He needs to know everything he want to know so that he can address his disease how ever he wants.
