I might add to Claudia's post that sometimes a zinc deficiency can also cause a metallic taste. Your mama may want to have that checked out as well. Tell grandmaw that most patients do really well on the chemo's for this type of cancer. It's not the old puky sick feeling chemo's of the past that she is thinking of and now there are some really good nausea meds out there to help. Its not like it used to be. Encourage her to go forward with the chemo the worst part is behind her now and she needs this chemo to kill any little stray cells that may be lurking around.

My mama has small cell lung cancer, if your neighbor has that type there is chemo that can help with not only the pain but buy more time. My mama is 15 months post diagnosis. My mama isn't doing as well as she was doing I believe she is becoming chemo resistant but for the past 15 months she has worked, visited, and enjoyed her life. Her chemo has not made her sick at all and she even looks forward to her chemo because she usually feels better. I have some lung cancer sites if you are interested. Hugs Lillie
