I don't know anything about Xeloda, but when my dad was on Gemzar, it decreased his pain. My dad had all kinds of GI problems prior to PC. He had Chrone's disease, bowel resections, etc. Anyway, my understanding is that Gemzar often helps with the pain. Maybe it's because he's been on it so long? I really don't know. But I am so happy for you guys that the picture looks so promising. Tell Dad to hang in there! What a strong spirit he has.
