DAN

I'M WRITING THIS ABOUT MY HUSBAND ,DAN. HE TURNED 50 ON APRIL 27TH OF THIS YEAR. WE HAVE BEEN MARRIED 31 YEARS ON FEB. 26TH OF THIS YEAR. HE HAD BEEN NOT FEELING VERY WELL, HAD A PHYSICAL IN JAN. EVERYTHING WAS FINE. BUT HE WAS HAVING SOME DISCOMFORT IN HIS RIGHT SIDE, NOT REALLY PAIN. WAS TOLD TO TAKE SOME ADVIL IT WAS PROBABLY A PULLED MUSCLE OR SOMETHING,COME BACK IF IT DIDN'T GO AWAY. WELL IT NEVER WENT AWAY. IN FEBRUARY THEY STARTED TESTING, CT SCANS, ULTRASOUNDS, BLOODWORK, MRI,SCOPE OF THE STOMACH WITH BIOPSIES, IVP TO CHECK FOR KIDNEY STONES, YOU NAME IT HE HAD IT. NOTHING SHOWED UP. THE PAIN GOT WORSE, SPREAD TO HIS BACK, WOULD SOMETIMES JUMP TO HIS LEFT SIDE. HE WAS TAKING PAIN MEDS, THEY TRIED NERVE BLOCKS, AN EPIDURAL PAIN BLOCK, NOTHING HELPED. HE SUFFERS FROM SEVERE ANXIETY AND PANIC DISORDER, AND HAS BEEN ON MEDICATION FOR THAT, THEY FINALLY DECIDED THE PAIN WAS DUE TO THAT. SO HE SUFFERED AND GOT WORSE AND LOST WEIGHT. THEN HE FINALLY TURNED JAUNDICE IN MAY, WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED. THEY THEN THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO DO THE WHIPPLE , BUT WHEN THEY GOT IN THERE THEY FOUND FULL PANCREAS INVOLVEMENT WITH METS TO THE LIVER, WITH 7 LESIONS VISIBLE.SO THEY CLOSED HIM BACK UP. HE IS NOW TAKING CHEMO, GEMZAR/CISPLATIN, 3 WEEKS ON 1 WEEK OFF, HE IS ON HIS 3RD ROUND AND WE JUST HAD A CT SCAN WHICH SHOWS 1 LIVER LESION DISAPPEARED AND THE PANCREATIC TUMOR WAS STABLE ,WHERE BEFORE IT WAS GROWING RAPIDLY.WE HAVE 2 GROWN SONS , ONE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, AND 2 BEAUTIFUL GRANDCHILDREN.THEY GAVE MY HUSBAND UNTIL FALL WITHOUT THE CHEMO, BUT WITH IT WE'RE HOPING FOR THE BEST.
