I am sorry to hear about the rough time for your Mom. You raise some important questions that each of us will face at some point in time-quality of life verse quantity. Only your Mom will know when she's ready to stop the treatments and deal with the remaining time.

Would strongly recommend that you and your Mom talk with Hospice. They can help, when necessary, by stepping in to make sure that your Mom stays pain free and comfortable. Since every patient is different, it's hard to know how long she will live after stopping treatment. Often Hospice is called very late in the game and they can provide so much help to the whole family -- not just the patient. There is no harm in calling them and speaking frankly about their services. It also sounds like it's time for both you and Mom to talk about what she's thinking about.

Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
