Lloyd is 53, dx March 2003, pc in body of pancreas, locally advanced to
celiac plexus. As I write this (4/18/03), we are soon to begin chemoradiation
- in the hope that possibly the tumor may become resectable. We're realistic,
however, and have already watched several on this list lose the battle.
We've been married 11 years, finding each other after painful earlier
endings; we danced at our wedding to the song 'Saved the Best for Last'.
We've got five adult children and six grandchildren, they are huge lights in
our lives (along with our overly enthusiastic German Shepherd, Shoene
(imagine an umlaut instead of the 'oe').
My 91 year-old uncle lives with us; on Sunday afternoons we have five
generations at our table - we are blessed.
Life is so ironic, we had lots of plans for when the uncle is no longer here
- to his great dismay he seems to outlive everyone. Perhaps I should take him
sailing around the world (Lloyd's fondest dream).
We join you all - none of us wants to be here - this list, however, brings
some sanity to a beastly plateful.
