It generally takes 10 years to go through all the testing then get FDA approval for a new drug. Phase I trials are on a very small number of patients--much too small to use the results as any kind of proof that something works. This latest vaccine was used on only 5 people. Results were promising but much more needs to be done before we all get too excited.
