Since you didn't say were the fluid is I'm not sure but assuming it is edema(in the legs)if so the combination of lassix and aldacton(SP?) helped dad, along with...watch the sodium intake, most especially in canned foods, get the legs and feet higher than the heart, at night we put blocks under the foot of dads bed to get the legs and feet higher. Now if it is ascites swelling in the tummy area, the fluid can be drained and make sure they send some to cytology to see the cause. Its easier to treat if you know the cause. Another thought here which always concerns me is...if it is in the leg or foot area and only one leg it could also be a blood clot. Give more information where is the swelling? Hugs Lillie
