Marj, dad's tumor has not grown but has stayed the same size, all the time. At one point, they thought it had shrunk but no. Going back over old, old scans from dad's kidney stone situation they found this tumor there from a year before Nov. 2001. Now there is no way to know the size of it them as they weren't examining it as they didn't know it was there. We have been told repeatedly that those in dad's situation do not do well without this chemo. Could be the gemzar too, but we believe the Diachii helps. Dad has only missed one cycle and that was at Christmas 2002 just to give him a break. He is fine always with the blood work. Just the blood sugar. Also we have to watch he doesn't dehydrate. Also mom gets tired of cooking and may not realize he is hungry and he jolly well doesn't know sometimes too! A nurse visits twice a week and a vleaner once a week. He goes to the hospital every week and also a scan every month. Well, let me know if there is anything more or I missed a question. This board doesn't let you know most recent postings and that can be a problem to keep going over the old ones.
This is Marj's original post from my post: What perfect timing your post was-for those of you who don't know, my Mom is on the same trial Elaine's Dad is on. Elaine, did the tumor shrink each time? Did it always remain the same? I am upset that for the first time, my Mom's tumor didn't shrink-could you please tell me your Dad's details...did it stay the same size after awhile? For how many months? So glad he is doing well-so happy you posted. Please, reply for me. Thanks-Marj
