Hello, I just found this board a few days ago, what a blessing. My mother was dx stage 4 PC mets to the liver, on 1/14/03. Started Gemzar a few weeks later and developed blood clots in her leg, getting shots everyday for that. Her pain seems to be managed with oxycontin and at her last chemo appt the doc told us that the tumor shrank 20% and her CA19-9 decreased from 48,000 to 34,000. Could someone explain what a 'normal' range for CA19-9 is? Does the fact that her tumor has shrunk mean that she has more time? She is eating well, fatigued (by cancer or chemo, I don't know)and has started taking antidepressants and seeing a therapist for depression. I realize every one is different but I can't help wanting to understand what is in store for us.

Thank you for listening.

P
