The conventional medical community has not been receptive to essiac tea -most evaluations I've read have dismissed it as quackery. We are still using it for my mother, however. I know of several people who swear by it. I think it has been especially helpful in easing the pain associated with the cancer. A friend of mine who lost her father to stomach cancer said that the essiac was such a help in relieving his pain. You must be careful that you purchase the right product - there are many generics that apparently don't work. Secondly, you must take it religiously for it to work (2 oz. 2-3 times daily). Finally, you must be patient - I've been told it takes at least 12 weeks for its effects to kick in. Mom's been on it for 7 weeks. I'll report later on its efficacy when we get past the 12 wks..
