I too belong to an HMO. The surgeon who looked at my test results concluded I had inoperable cancer of the pancreas & gave me 6 months to live. I demanded a second opinion & was sent to Johns Hopkins Hospital where I had successful Whipple surgery. That was 2 years ago. Only a few medical centers in the country know enough about PC to make an intelligent diagnosis & come up with a practical course of treatment. Fight for the right to get to one of these centers.
