Marge, the pain in your mother's right side is no doubt the tumor(s) in the liver, but the treatment you describe is aimed toward the primary tumor in the pancreas. My wife passed away from PC almost a year ago so I know what you and your mom are going through. I've read your recent posts and realize that your onco is giving the standard treatment which will not do much for the most immediate problem, the liver. The tumors in the liver can cause the demise of a patient by causing it to fail. There is very little reason to do standard radiation aimed at the pancreas when the liver is the biggest threat to life. Depending on the size and spread in the liver your mom may be eligible for the two best treatments to resolve the tumors in the liver and the pancreas. The first is body radiosurgery at Staten Island Univ Hosp, NY which is the only place in the country that can do this procedure, which Patti H can atest to. The second is cryosurgery, which is freezing the tumors and can be performed at several Hospitals around the country. When tumors are in the liver there is no time for stardard treatment!!! I didn't know then what I know now, please do not wait. I've posted my e-mail above if you want further info or you can talk to Patti H also. Good luck.
