Christine, sorry to hear about your father. I have heard--and read--that the second week or two of Gemzar is the worst. I don't know, but perhaps it is the tumor fighting back. Definitely try to get your father to a nutritionist or even talk to one on the phone. They can explain a lot and will probably suggest 5 or 6 small meals per day. Also make sure he is getting anti-nausea drugs with the chemo. Many people find that when the Gemzar 'kicks in' they start to feel more enegetic. The standard first coure is 7 weeks, so you have to give it time. This is a period of highs and lows. Good luck.Kathleen
