My husband, Jay, was diagnosed on July 12, 2002 with stage 4 pc. He has mets
everywhere, including many of his bones. He is 49 years old.
We like our onocologist very much, and after reading the board I appreciate
even more how he has stressed the importance of my husband's poitive attitude
and de-emphasized the statistics around this disease.
We learned of his illness when he was diagnosed with an auto-immune illness,
Bullous Pemphigoid; a terrible skin rash where the body attacks the dermis as
though it was a disease. The dermatologist was on his toes and ct scanned
for cancer. Unfortunately, his hunch was right.
We have four kids. Our youngest is nine. Luckily we are blessed with a very
supportive community, family and friends. Also, Jay is tolerating his chemo
very well.
He is on Cisplatin and Gemzar plus celebrex. He also has to take 100mg. of
prednisone daily to keep the auto-immune rash at bay....
I am really grateful to have found this board. Thank you.
