he simply complained of not feelinf well and pain in lower back (ultimately not related)We sere getting reddy to leave for Australia in 2 weeks and I was concerned he just didn't have the energy. Instead of making a Dr. appt. and waiting, I took him to an urgent care facility and told him to tell them he had chest pain so they would pay attention--otherwise they would have sent him home with an ice pack--I am an RN so I had a pretty good idea --They did pay attention--heart okay of course--x-ray showed mass on lung and mets to the liver. Abdominal cat showed growth on head and neck of pancreas and small spots on pelvic bone. Bronchoscopy showed adenocarcinoma cells. STAGE IV! Was given weeks to 3 months--possibly 6 to live. He still does not know this prognosis--how can he stay positive if he did? He began chemo on gemzar and cisplatin--cisplatin is what I found on internet and asked Dr. if he could have it in conjunction with gemzar--has had about 8 tx and seems to be doing great--tumor marker down to 154 on August 27 from 985 on June 1. has gained 20 pounds. Excellent appetite. I give him essiac tea, and multiple dietary/herbal supplements daily. No pain. No bowel issues. Lots of prayer and faithful attitude. So I wonder--am I just whistling dixie to feel positive? It's been 3 months--is it downhill from here? 3 more months and that is it? I know everyone is different--but our oncologist postulates only from statistics ( he seems puzzled)
