REGINA
My father, Silas Hess, was diagnosed on May 18, 2002 with Stage IV pancreatic
cancer with mets to the liver. He was 54 years old and also had a history of
diabetes, Chrone's disease, and heart bypass at age 47. He passed away on
June 19, 2002, just one month and one day post-diagnosis. During that brief
month, he attempted Gemzar and 5-FU. He took Megace for his appetite, as
well.
Dad and Mom divorced when I was 13, but I think his death was hard on her and
her siblings, as well. They all grew up together and he was the first to pass
on in their group. Of course, being a Mom, she is most concerned for my
brother and I...
I am 30. My brother Bobby is 27. I have no children, but I get to spoil his.
He has two sons (ages 7 and 5) and one daughter (age 2). I work at Johns
Hopkins Bayview in Baltimore and live in Glen Burnie, MD.
