Check this out. A couple of days ago my sister took my BIL to his Onc. He had a hard lump on his right side, above his hip and to the right of his stomach. It was hard, hot, and red. They (my sis) thought it might be a hernia. The ultrasound indicated that it was the tumor - it had worked its way through the abdominal cavity and was bulging out by his stomach. We all then proceeded to freak out because this would represent tremendous growth since his last ct scan. Then late last night, they did another ct scan. Got the results today and it was something I'd never heard of - an infected blood clot caused from the injections of blood thinner (lovenox) he's been having to give himself. It looked like a tumor on the ultrasound. So, we still don't know what involvement, if any, the tumor has with this, but I suspect it's not involved. He is just really at risk for infection, and it happened. He's still in the hospital on heavy doses of antibiotics and they've put in a little drainage tube to try and drain the infection as much as possible. Anyway, I wanted to share this little tidbit with you all, and it's just something else to put in the data banks for future reference. Later, Judy
