My first PET was ordered by my pulmonary Doc to investigate a somewhat suspicious lung lesion which showed up on CT. He told me at that time that PET was usually approved by insurers for lung but he didn't think it was for PC. That was paid by my insurer as was a later one ordered by my PC Oncologist after CT found a liver lesion. The key to getting paid might be in what diagnosis codes are used when the claim is submitted. You might want to ask the radiologists and ordering Doc's business offices whether claim can be resubmitted with appropriate codes, i.e., for lung rather than pancreas. Best wishes.
