The gas is likely due to the undigested fat in his stools (as a result of pancreatic enzyme insufficiency). He may even notice floating 'oil' in the toilet bowl. Once he gets on the enzymes it should stop. I have no pancreas and take Creon, 1-2 pills with meals and snacks. It works great. If I have a low- or no-fat snack, like an apple, I don't usually take the pills. Their main purpose is to digest fat. - robin f
