My father was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last week. It is in stage 4 so they have told us that it is just a matter of weeks to a couple of months. Has you mother already been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer? If not, don't be alarmed. Keep cool until the dr appt. My dad's dr told us that pancreas cancer is extremely difficult to diagnose and usually the best way is to open them up. The scans don't show anything but when they open them up, they often find what they suspected but that the scans didn't show. My dad's started as a problem with the gall bladder. He had it removed 2 weeks ago and they found a spot on his liver that was confirmed malignant. They had no idea YET supposedly of where it stemmed from. He had an obstruction in the bile duct. There was a different scope type test to do a brushing of the cells there. They too were malignant. There was some blood test similar to the score of the belle ruben in the liver that showed the pancreas level at 13,000....33 being normal. The dr said that was almost an absolute that it was in the pancreas and had spread to the bile duct and liver. There is nothing they can do for my dad besides manage the pain.

In regards to your mother, what diagnosis have they given so far? What were the symptoms that brought on the scan?
