My mom had a CATscan yesterday (tumor markers were elevated). To make a long story short...I call the dr., they put the nurse on who tells me that they can't give me info over the phone w/o written consent from my mother - it's a law, blah, blah, blah. Okay, I AM THE CAREGIVER....I take her to every treatment, every appt., ask questions, follow-up, etc. Well, the nurse says to me....Well, she has a dr's appt. on Tuesday and she should really discuss this with the dr. at that time! So I ask my Mom and she says I'll wait til Tuesday. So I go downstairs, hang up the phone and cry for about 10 minutes because I'm so angry....I am a NERVOUS WRECK about this....now I get to be a nervous wreck for 4 additional days. Mom doesn't know I'm upset, she's happier not facing the news. Is it really a LAW they won't tell me? Is it state or federal? Also....if this nurse's mother had pancreatic cancer, do you think she would wait 6 days for the result of a catscan? I THINK NOT! Is it me, or do they just think because my mother is 74 that they don't give a rat's rearend? I think I am so angry I'm irrational....what do you think? Even if I'm wrong, please be nice...can't take much more today. I need to prepare myself and would rather know before my Mom goes into the appt. on Tuesday. HelenS
