This nerve block, to the celiac plexus, is not in the spine, but on either side of it. There is a slight danger that they would puncture the lung, but still worth the risk (my husband did not have that complication). It must be done by an anesthesiologist guided by a CAT scan (no barium required), so it is an out-patient hospital procedure. Takes 5 to 7 days to kick in completely. Finding someone who knows how to do these and the cost are the only two negatives I can see (our insurance co. paid for ours). Jerry's is 100% effective and expected to last for a year. Our anesth. also does other blocks for pain to help patients as the disease progresses. Good luck!
