Hi Claudia: Gallbladder polyps can be caused by a number of things, including but not limited to cholesterol, inflammation, and benign tumors. They are usually not hereditary, and i doubt a small one would be symptomatic. It is a good idea to see a surgeon to find out what the cause is in your case, and if the gallbladder needs to come out. hope this helps peter
