HI,

I AM A 25-YEAR OLD FEMALE WHO HAS A 6MM POLYP. MY MOTHER ALSO HAS A POLYP IN HER GALLBLADDER. I DO NOT KNOW THE SIZE OF IT. HOWEVER, SHE HAS SYMPTOMS OF PAIN THAT RADIATES FROM FRONT TO BACK. COULD THE POLYP IN HER GALLBLADDER BE CAUSING THIS SYMPTOM? SHOULD SHE HAVE HER GALLBLADDER REMOVED? HER MOTHER HAD IT REMOVED AT AGE 30 BECAUSE OF GALLSTONES. WE DO NOT HAVE GALLSTONES. ALSO, WHAT ARE POLYPS CAUSED BY, AND ARE THEY HEREDITARY? MY DOCTOR HAS REFERRED ME TO SEE A SURGEON JUST TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE, EVEN THOUGH I DO NOT HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS. BUT, I DO HAVE GERD, AND AM TAKING NEXIUM 40 MG ONCE PER DAY. COULD THIS BE A SYMPTOM OF GALLBLADDER DISEASE? I AM SCARED BECAUSE I AM ONLY 25 AND THE POLYP IS ALREADY 6MM. SHOULD I CHOOSE TO REMOVE MY GALLBLADDER? IF I DON'T, DOES THE POLYP POSE AN INCREASED RISK OF GETTING GALLBLADDER CANCER SINCE I AM SO YOUNG AND WILL EVENTUALLY BECOME MALIGNANT OVER THE YEARS? I APOLOGIZE IF I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS, BUT I LIKE TO GET AS MANY OPINIONS AS POSSIBLE. I GUESS YOU CAN SAY THAT I LIKE TO DEAL WITH PROBLEMS AS THEY ARISE.

I APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION OR OPINIONS.

THANK-YOU,

CLAUDIA
