Dear Melissa: It seems to me that patients as young and healthy as your husband should be treated very agressively. Many centers are starting to do radiofrequency ablation for liver mets with good results. 5-FU and Gemzar seem to be a good combination too. I just would not sit still for no treatment or a treatment of 'wait and see-when the cancer comes back, we'll try something then' If nothing else, some low dose maintenance therapy like Xeloda ( oral 5-FU) or vitamins or something now that it seems like your husband has achieved a remission of the cancer.
