Dear Ross: I also forgot to tell you that my Dad is on Celebrex along with
the Gemzar. Celebrex is a drug for arthritis that is thought to have
anti-angiogenesis (new blood vessels to supply tumors) properties. His
oncologist didn't prescribe it because so far I think it is just used in
clinical trials but said he didn't have a problem with him getting it from
his family doc and taking it along with the Gemzar in case it was beneficial.
You might check with your wife's doc about this, however like all Medicare
recipients, my dad has no Rx coverage and the Celebrex is mighty
pricey--about $100. per month. I have a friend who works for the drug
company who makes it and sends him samples. Good luck with all this--its bad
enough to have cancer let alone find that the proposed treatment is expensive
and not covered!
