Larry, I am no expert by any means. Last March when I was diagnosed, I was sick, Lost 50 lbs, couldn't eat a thing, throwing up, couldn't sleep. The dr. told us we should get on chemo right away, along with also letting us know that I would die in 6-9 months. Our question was why do chemo if I was going to die anyway? He informed us that the quality of life would get a lot better while on chemo-he was right about that. I've gained back 17 lbs, sleep through most nights, have not thrown up since I've been on chemo and some of the cancer has shrunk! I'm actually in better shape now than when I was dx plus I eat full meals again (big part of my life). I do believe that I would be gone now if I kept going the way I was before chemo. My chemo is gemzar, carbo and xeloda.
