Larry, your friend really should talk to an oncologist. Many patients do well on chemo for PC. The Oncologist use different chemos for different cancers. Yes, some chemos are a bad experience, but the gemcitibine(gemzar)usually doesn't have that effect. It is true that some patients just don't tolerate gemzar very well either but many do so good. Kay S lived on the gemzar for 3 1/2 years and she use to say, she lived a good quality life. The important thing for your friend is to get educated and know her options. Once the chemo is started and if she decides it isn't worth it she can stop the chemo at any time. Of course I feel like it is her decision all the way but she should at least know her options.
