There is a physiological link caused by the disruption of the pancreas' function that may be exacerbating your father's depression. My father spent 2.5 months enduring extreme panic and anxiety attacks including uncontrollable shaking, swearing, kicking, screaming etc. not pretty. We found a psycho-oncologist who wrote an article on the subject. He adjusted Dad's meds and within a week the attacks disappeared. I would be happy to provide more info (I'll have to ask Dad what the specific meds were that were increased) email me directly.
